Kalista goes above and beyond in her care as a doula. I am so grateful for the time that Kalista poured into me and my husband prior to the birth of our son. This was my first labor and delivery, Kalista provided emotional and physical support to me throughout my labor, she was flexible with my needs and how she approached my labor process and needs. She was a constant source of strength and calm for myself and my husband and I am forever grateful for her awareness, commitment and care that she provided. I am hopeful that Kalista will be available and ready to join us when we prepare to welcome our second child into our family. Kalista is now a part of our family and I'm so grateful for her. I don't even know where to start. I am almost 3 weeks postpartum and have been heavily reflecting on my pregnancy, labor, and delivery as a first-time mom. I matched with Kalista when I was about 20 weeks pregnant. The kindness, support, and education provided by Kalista from day 1 has made the entire experience incredibly memorable.

My plan was to have an unmedicated birth, but complications along the way forced an induction and an epidural. My body continued to struggle to dilate, which caused a very uncomfortable, prolonged labor. There were many moments of feeling very challenged and overwhelmed. Kalista stayed by my side in the hospital the entire time, as soon as I was admitted. Kalista provided ambient lighting, meditation music, electrolytes, stress tools (ball and labor comb), suggested positions to try during contractions, and massaged my legs during the most intense times.

One of the most memorable things I will always remember during my labor and delivery was her soft, kind words of encouragement during painful moments and during my actual delivery. I honestly can say that I wouldn't have been able to overcome the challenges without her and my fiancé by my side. I was hard on myself when the turn of events changed my birth plan. Kalista made my fiancé and I feel comfortable and confident that we could overcome it all and still have a positive delivery. When I look back on everything, I can honestly say that I will miss the entire experience and parts of me wish that it wasn't over. If I ever have another baby, I hope that Kalista is available again to help me have another positive birth experience. We are so grateful for her!

Kalista is such a blessing! My pregnancy journey was far from typical.

I didn’t find out I was pregnant until I was 7 months along. With only two months to prepare for my baby girl, I was overwhelmed and anxious. But Kalista was a true lifesaver. She immediately helped ease my stress and made me feel like I had more time than I thought.

She offered practical tips and tricks to prepare for labor and helped us navigate important conversations with our doctor. On the big day, she set up the room exactly how I envisioned it, creating a calm and comforting space that helped ease my anxiety. Kalista also stepped in to advocate for me when the medical team wasn’t fully aligned with my birth plan.

On top of everything, she was emotionally there for me, she never judged me and always gave me the space to vent when my anxiety got the best of me. Just knowing I could turn to her brought me so much peace.

Kalista is a Godsend! My birth story was one that my husband and I did not prepare for. Our daughter came 6.5 weeks early and we had not even had our prenatal meeting with Kalista. I reached out to her in the early morning of our daughter's arrival to get her insight on the events leading up to learning that my water had broken and I was in active labor. Not only was she available to answer our questions but she just so happened to be in the area and was able to meet me and my husband at the hospital in the afternoon. Kalista had a plan and we were able to discuss my birth preferences in-between contractions. She had also made arrangements with another Doula just in case I delivered the next day as she had vacation planned, along with arranging placenta encapsulation services. Kalista supported my husband by giving him advice on what to do and what to bring to the hospital, and just her presence alone was an encouragement for him as this was our first baby. She walked him through counter-pressure techniques and took turns with him in providing counterpressure during my contractions. Our daughter came in the early evening and Kalista was able to be present for her birth! Kalista was the calming voice that guided me when breathing through my contractions and the one that reminded me to breathe our baby down when it was time to deliver. Despite the circumstance, Kalista was prepared, supportive, and was an invaluable resource to both myself and my husband throughout my pregnancy, delivery, and postpartum. I can only imagine how prepared and supportive she is when a little one arrives at full gestation! We are forever grateful for her!

After having a not so great prenatal appointment in my second trimester, where I didn’t feel listened to or known, I knew I needed to find a doula to walk along side me the rest of the way. When I first spoke with Kalista, we immediately clicked. She listened to everything I had to say about my prenatal care up until then, what I wanted moving forward, and what I hoped for with my labor and delivery. I especially loved that as different minor complications arose during my pregnancy, that made an induction a real potential for me, she was able to walk me through different options to create a birth plan as close to my original one as possible.

Looking back I am so thankful I had her with me during the labor and delivery. Kalista helped me have the unmedicated birth I hoped for and assisted with pain relief, positioning, coaching, and more. My husband was also so thankful she was able to explain to us what was going on during the entire process and why and what choices we had.

Kalista is the best! She helped me and my husband prepare for an AWESOME birth!!! She was great at prepping popsicles, candles, and educational materials beforehand and during the birth she did a phenomenal job filling the gaps for us. She helped my husband with what needed to get done so he could be with me during labor. She bridged communication with the Midwives so they had all the information they needed to know where I was at in the process. She is kind, positive, understanding, and a great barrier against awkward moments! We loved working together and would recommend her as a doula to anyone!

Kalista is amazing! She really held space for me and supported me intuitively through my long, mentally tough labor. I was getting discouraged and starting to worry I would need a c-section due to exhaustion. My husband was exhausted at 2am when I was still unable to sleep with contractions but not progressed enough to go to the birth center and he called Kalista. She came to my house and helped me think about how I wanted to proceed. She brought creative ideas to try and progress and then when it seemed like it was too out of reach, she helped me shower and calm down, she literally tucked me into bed and I slept better than I had for 48 hours. I would not have had the beautiful birth I hoped and worked for if not for Kalista’s support. She also made delicious food and labor aid for me (that really helped me keep up energy between contractions) and she took some wonderful photos of the final bit of labor that I will cherish forever.
